Jakarta (B2B) - Popularity does not guarantee electability. The fact is revealed by the result of survey by Indonesian Survey Institute putting Anas Urbaningrum as the most popular young politician, yet his electability rate is low. Simply, Anas is popular but people reject him.
The survey reports that in terms of popularity, Anas obtains 82.05% votes, followed by Golkar politician, Priyo Budi Santoso (77.10%), Hidayat Nur Wahid (74,11%), Pramono Anung from PDIP (73.73%), and Puan Maharani also from PDIP (71,49%).
As for electability rate, Anas, a former member of General Election Commission, is on the 8th place, far below Priyo Budi Santoso, Hidayat Nur Wahid, Pramono Anung, Puan Maharani, and Budiman Sudjatmiko, PDIP politician.
“High intensity of appearance in media contributes for their high electability rate,” says researcher of the institute, Mochtar W Oetomo, after speaking up in Atlit Century Hotel, Jakarta, on Sunday (9/12).
The survey was conducted in 33 provinces involving 1,070 respondents. It aimed to know whether young figures from political party are known and favored to be presidential candidates. It was conducted from November 16-December 4, using interview method and questionnaire with 3% margin of error.
